Fundraising Programs

Gift Card / Scrip Program

The scrip program is an ongoing fundraiser for the synagogue. The “scrip” is gift cards. These gift cards can be used in the various stores and also online to make purchases. You purchase the gift cards from the synagogue instead of from other stores that sell them. The synagogue purchases the cards at a discount and then sells them at face value. The difference is our profit.

We buy the supermarket cards directly from the supermarket and we make a 5% on them. The non-supermarket cards are purchased from a scrip company, so the percentage of profit on them varies from 1.5% to some as high as 15%. There is a huge selection of cards available to choose from including restaurants, clothing and department stores, sporting goods, movies, bookstores, fast food, drugstores and online companies as well.

Some of the non-supermarket cards are reloadable, which means you can just go online to the scrip website and add value on to your existing card. This is a quicker way to get money added to a card without having to wait to meet up with someone to purchase a new one.

Kohl’s accepts gift cards as payment for your credit card bill. Using gift cards to pay your bill allows you to take advantage of all of the benefits of the Kohl’s charge and still support the scrip program.
Aside from the Amazon and Itunes cards, many other cards can be used to make purchases online. For those who are skeptical about using a credit card online, this is very beneficial.

We currently have four people who sell scrip. Debbie (856-881-4336), Diane R. (856-589-4472), and Diane S. (856-740-0081) sell the supermarket cards. The supermarkets that we carry are Acme and Shoprite and the cards are available in denominations of $25, $50, and $100. Judy (856-256-0550) sells the supermarket and the non-supermarket. You can see a complete list of the non-supermarket cards that are available by going to the scrip website www.glscrip.com.

To purchase scrip, simply contact one of the people listed above. Judy is at the synagogue for Hebrew School Sundays and Wednesdays, with scrip available for purchase. You can also order scrip online by following these directions.

"The most important reason I am involved in the capital campaign is so that my kids will have a wonderful place to have their Bar & Bat Mitzvahs. A close second is that I would love for people moving to this area to be comfortable in knowing that they are coming to an area with a wonderful Jewish community."
