Fundraising Programs

CBTBI has many ways for its membership and supporters to help fund our programs. Often, these programs cost you nothing, and can even save you money, while benefiting the synagogue.

We encourage you to learn about these opportunities and participate in as many programs as you can.

TD Bank Affinity Program

TD Bank’s Affinity Membership Program provides our synagogue the opportunity to earn annual cash contributions, at no expense to our membership.  We’re thrilled with the ease of participating in this program and that there is NO cost to our organization or to participants. In fact, the more you save, the more we earn! It is totally confidential. CBTBI does not know account balances and does not even know who is participating.

If you already have an existing account (checking or savings) call a TD Bank branch and ask them to associate all your accounts to their Affinity Program for Congregation B’nai Tikvah Beth Israel, Code # A1182. Each year CBTBI will receive $10 in addition to the activity on the checking account. CBTBI also receives a contribution for Savings, Money Market, CDs and IRAs.

If you do not have a TD Bank account, open an account and provide the same information as above (CBTBI code A1182). CBTBI will receive a one-time bonus of $50 for your new checking account in addition to the future activity on the account.

You do not have to be a CBTBI member. Relatives, Friends, and Neighbors can participate using code A1182.

More information on the TD Bank Affinity Program is available here.

Gift Card / Scrip Program

Over the course of more than 20 years at CBTBI, the Gift Card/Scrip program has had the potential to be one of the synagogue’s best and EASIEST fundraisers. We purchase gift cards for a wide variety of local businesses at a discounted rate (like Shoprite, Acme, Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Best Buy, and dozens more) and resell them to you at face value. It costs you nothing. If you want to spend $25 at Target, you pay $25 and get a gift card for $25. We make it easy to get gift cards. “Stations” are available throughout the area, during school hours and at most activities and programs. We’ll also deliver gift cards to your door! All you have to do is ask. This program costs you nothing, but yields big returns for the synagogue.

More information on the Gift Card program is available here.

AmazonSmile

Do you buy on Amazon? If so, Amazon will donate a portion of its proceeds to our synagogue with every purchase you make. Here’s how to do it:

  • First, log onto your Amazon account through Smile.Amazon.com.
  • Click on “Accounts & Lists” at the top right.
  • On the next screen, under “Other Programs,” click on “Change Your Amazon Smile Charity.”
  • Type “Congregation Bnai Tikvah” (no apostrophe in Bnai) in Blackwood, NJ as the organization you wish to support.
  • You only need to register one time, but you must log onto AmazonSmile, each time you want to make a purchase in order for the synagogue to receive money.
  • You can use this from the computer of the phone app as well.

Box Tops For Education

Box Tops is now digital. Just download the app and sign up with our Hebrew School. Simply scan your receipts and we earn money for school supplies.

Ink Cartridge & Toner Recycling

Bring us your used toners and ink cartridges. We return them to Staples and we get credit for. We use this when we need to purchase office supplies for the building and school. We can turn in 20 each month, so we always need them.

Community Directory

Once a year, CBTBI publishes its annual Community Directory, a fundraiser that has been one of the best in past years.  Inside the directory we provide news about the goings on at CBTBI and give the membership an opportunity to honor children, grandchildren and loved ones.  But mostly its about local businesses that choose to support us by placing an ad in the directory.  You can support the directory by either honoring your loved ones or by soliciting ads from the merchants you already visit.  Either way, it’s easy to do, because you’ll be asking for ads from local merchants and professionals you already use.  Directories are available to the membership in the synagogue library.

Annual Affair

Once a year, CBTBI holds a major fundraising event at which members, supporters and friends mingle.  In recent years, it’s been a golf outing and dinner or banquets. These events generally include auctions and raffles, which are the major source of revenue for the event.  But the big draw for these events is simply the fun.
